After the last earthquake in 2010, the small town of Curepto located region north of the Maule nearby the Cordillera de la Costa, ( coastal Mountains) was without many of its buildings that are part of their rural culture, including several corridor houses, which are National Monuments and / or part of their reknown architectural typical area.

At first glance, the main front facade and lateral nave of this religious building collapsed in several places, this can be explained in part because the plane and smooth frontal facade, without buttresses, and on the other hand, the adobe structure at its height held a series of wooden upper sills would arming top and bottom of the facade.
This inertia, weight + strength make them displace in a different directions to which the adobe brick masonry by weight, size and mass move with less speed, therefore, the wood will always try to move in and out of its axis in relation to the whole masonry wall.

Should be investigated, however, whether such damages occurred in part because of other problems related with an impairment of the facade with water infiltration, the actual state of timber sills that are arming the main facade.
Inside the church, we know from the outside, because their income is prohibited for security implications.
The following photographic record of July 2010, it was taken after it was coated with plastic sheets, at the collapsed areas with no roof.
