ii . Religious Buildings Post Earthquake
San Ignacio de Empedrado Church
"The current parish church, located across the Plaza de Armas, occupies the site of another of parish with smaller proportions , it dates back to the founding of the Villa de San Ignacio of Empedrado. Its construction was started by the priest Don Avelino Herrera in 1884 by consider that the 1st building was not worthy of the people.
This temple stands in the thickness of its adobe walls and measurements. Made out of maulino oak woodwork, you can actually note its aseismic joist, supported by thick columns carved with adze. All the wood was Galumávida taken from the nearest farms ,donated by Don Carlos Arangua. The tiles and bricks were made in La Orilla and it was donated by Don José Rodríguez Rodríguez. The bricks were made by the villagers and women as well " (Extracted from http://proyectomaulesurempedrado.blogspot.com/)

1.Perimetral Structure.
The damage to the perimeter structure , the supporting structure of the roof and steeple of the Church, presents the current characteristics as it follows: mainly the possibility of overturning the east wall in the direction of the Presbytery, in the same way that the upstream fell apart in the last earthquake.
Recent aftershocks have increased the size of the fractures, cracks and fissures, making imminent collapse by its own weight. The west wall has damaged coatings of consideration, making possible overturning , not the wall in question, although there are horizontal fissure that would become the possibility of overturning as well.
2. Internal Structure:
The main hall next to the side, did not suffer major damage and could resist in a good way to seismic momentum, the structure of partitions of timber, and the roof were not bad.
The choir and the choir loft, which are over the access, are in poor condition. This facade is composed of adobe stucco on top of splints that are detached, visualizing the entangled wood.
